Captions

Captions are a great way to make your videos more accessible to a wider audience. They are also a great way to help your viewers understand what is being said in your video.

You may add captions from the Edit Video page by uploading a WebVTT file.

Adding Captions

You can attach multiple caption tracks to a video. This is useful if you have multiple languages, or if you want to provide a transcript of the video. The label shown is used to identify the caption track and is also displayed in the player. You can modify it by clicking the pencil icon.

For every video you upload, captions will be automatically generated. Currently, only English captions are supported. If another language is spoken in the video, captions will be created using the English model, and the output may be incomprehensible. These captions are generated using speech recognition technology and are not perfect. They serve as a great starting point for you to edit and improve. From the captions panel, you can enable auto captions or download them as a WebVTT file. You can then make any necessary edits and upload the file.

Where possible a transcript will be generated for the media. This file can be downloaded from the ‘interactivity’ tab when editing your media. If no transcript is available the transcript card will not be displayed.

With the February 2026 update, videos with a transcript generated with the new service will have the option to change the speaker labels from the default speaker_0, speaker_1, etc.

Manage speaker labels

After entering your labels, click save and the labels will be replaced in both the auto-generated transcript and captions files.
