Importing videos in bulk

Using the Import button in the header of Media Manager, videos can be uploaded in bulk from rows in a spreadsheet.

Creating the spreadsheet

The first row of the spreadsheet should contain column headings. Whilst column names do not need to match one from the table below, columns that are recognised will be pre-filled in the import form.

On the field mapping screen, add each custom field using the dropdown, click add once selected for each item (see screenshot).

Import videos from a legacy Media Manager account

By selecting the Media Manager options on the first screen of the import form a Media Manager ID can be used in place of the url field to obtain the video data directly from a legacy Media Manager account. In this case the title field is not required to be included in the spreadsheet, any additional fields provided will override values from legacy Media Manager.

The import will ask for a Client ID and API key. The Client ID is the first part of the website domain when looking at the legacy Media Manager account; after https:// and before .getmediamanager.com. The API key can be found in the Full Access Key field under the API tab in the Account section of a legacy Media Manager account.

Uploading the spreadsheet

Once video information has been compiled into a spreadsheet, uploading to Media Manager is quick and easy. The form has only a handful of short steps:

  • Select if videos are being transferring from a legacy Media Manager account or uploaded from file URLs
  • If transferring from a legacy Media Manager account, add the Client ID and API key
  • Upload the spreadsheet
  • Match the columns up to fields that Media Manager recognises

Once the form has been submitted a page will be shown that details the status of all videos being processed from the spreadsheet (shown in screenshot below). If this is the first import for the active team an additional link in the left hand menu will now show called Imports.

To automatically refresh the results press the Auto-refresh button, marked as ① in screenshot. It will highlight green to indicate that the auto-refresh is active. When an error is found, or a video finishes uploading or processing the results will update without the need to refresh the page.

An import can be given a more identifiable name by clicking edit, marked as ② in the screenshot.

Any rows that Media Manager was not able to validate will show in a list of errors. The easiest way to re-process rows that did not succeed is to download the errors CSV file (marked as ③ in the screenshot). This can be amended and re-uploaded in a new import.

Deleting imports

Imports can be deleted from the imports list accessible from the left hand menu. Deleting an import will not remove the videos that were created as part of the import, you have to do this on the video grid. If all imports for a team are deleted the link in the left hand menu will be hidden from view.
