Thumbnails

Thumbnails allow you to customise how your player will look before a video has started playing. You can set a custom thumbnail for each video, and it will be used in the player and in the grid view.

When a video is first processed we will automatically generate a thumbnail from the video, you can change this at any time. You can upload any valid image file, and we will automatically convert it to the correct size.

Image Size

The image should be 16:9 aspect ratio and 1920x1080 pixels in size.

Adding a Thumbnail

You can add a thumbnail from the Edit Video page, in the ‘Media’ tab. Hover over the existing thumbnail and click the icon. You can then select a new thumbnail from your computer and click save when finished.

Note

The name field is not displayed anywhere in the player and can simply be used for your own purposes.

Viewing a Thumbnail

To view your existing thumbnail and download a copy of the optimized image click “View Thumbnail”. You will be able to view your current thumbnail and generate a secure link to download a copy of the optimized image.

Caution

Please do not link directly to the thumbnail image, this will not work. You must use the secure link provided. Secure links will expire after 24 hours, so you should not share them with anyone.
